JDRF greatly appreciates the outstanding work of Health Care Professionals, and is pleased to offer the following services.

Free Professional Membership to JDRF
All JDRF Professional Members receive our Quarterly Magazines Update and Countdown, as well as access to JDRF’s KIDSAC Program, Literature Program and our Research Roundup eNewsletter. Professional Members also receive JDRF’s Annual Report and are notified when grants are available.

JDRF Professional Membership is free thanks to Novo Nordisk.

JDRF Insulin Pump Grants
Following the great success of our 2006 Insulin Pump Grants program where eighteen children with type 1 diabetes were provided with insulin pumps, JDRF is pleased to announce that we will be running the program again in 2007.

Health Care Professionals are invited to apply for a grant to cover the cost of an Insulin Pump for families who would benefit from Insulin Pump Therapy but are unable to afford the upfront cost.

This program is provided through support from children’s charity The Bestest Foundation.

KIDSAC
The JDRF KIDSAC program provides Diabetes Educators with a free backpack for families with children newly diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. The packs contain valuable information including the book ‘Caring for Diabetes in Children and Adults: A Parent’s Manual’, a cute ‘Rufus’ or ‘Ruby’ teddy bear for the child and a blood glucose testing meter.

The KIDSAC Program is available to Diabetes Educators who are JDRF Professional Members. KIDSAC is supported by Accu-Chek and sanofi aventis.

JDRF is developing a kit which contains information suitable for Teens and Adults with type 1 diabetes.

Literature Program
JDRF provides Professional Members with information brochures for use in clinics and practices. Brochures include:

Youth Ambassadors
The JDRF Youth Ambassador program provides children with type 1 diabetes and their families opportunities to meet other JDRF families, participate in fun activities, visit their local and federal parliamentarians, speak with the media and tell their story. JDRF provides development to Youth Ambassadors to help build their confidence and develop new skills.

JDRF Professional Members are able to order Youth Ambassador Posters and Youth Ambassador Application Forms.

Update quarterly magazine provides a uniquely Australian perspective on the activities of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Update offers news of cure-focused diabetes research and treatments in Australia, as well as stories of life with type 1 diabetes and local news and events.

Countdown is the award-winning magazine published quarterly by the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International (JDRF).

Countdown offers in-depth analysis about cutting-edge research and new treatments, and also features poignant stories from some of the more than 1 million people who have type 1 (juvenile) diabetes and their families.

JDRF D1Connect Peer Support Service
D1Connect is a telephone peer-support referral service run by volunteers at JDRF. Newly diagnosed families and individuals who call the service are put in touch with JDRF members who live in their local area and who can share their experiences.

The D1Connect service operates on Wednesdays out of the JDRF Melbourne office on 03 9696 3866.


JDRF Travel Grants
JDRF provides grants for Researchers, Diabetes Educators and other Allied Health and Nursing Professionals to allow travel to research institutions or scientific meetings, for the purpose of furthering their expertise in the study of type 1 diabetes.
